What is the process for laser tattoo removal?
New Look Skin Center uses the PicoWay system for tattoo removal. This system uses an intense laser beam to break apart the color pigments used to make tattoos, while leaving the skin around it untouched. It can also be used to treat pigmented lesions that you would like to have removed.
PicoWay can remove all colors in a tattoo, although yellow, red, purple, and orange are the most difficult to remove and can take many sessions to completely get rid of. Black and blue respond to the laser most quickly, and tattoos in these colors can usually be removed in two to four sessions. More complex tattoos can take as many as 10 treatments. It really depends on how complex the tattoo is and how deeply the ink has penetrated into the skin layers. You should also know that not all tattoos may respond to laser treatment. A poorly done tattoo that wasn’t set into the correct skin layer may not be in the correct place to respond to the laser.
What happens after a tattoo removal treatment?
There may be some blistering immediately after the removal procedure, and there may be swelling that lasts for several days. An ice pack can help; make sure to wear sunscreen if you have to go outside (although you should avoid the sun as much as possible); avoid tight clothing; avoid activity that may cause excessive sweating; and clean the area gently every day with soap and water.
Are you tired of that tattoo? With PicoWay and the laser experts at New Look Skin Center in California, you don’t have to live with it anymore – you can have skin that is unblemished and refreshed. Call (818) 662-5005 for a tattoo removal consultation today!
