Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

Proudly Serving Glendale, Encino, & Irvine, CA

Utilizing one of the most efficient and effective lasers, PicoWay by Candela, New Look Skin Center is able to remove unwanted eyebrow tattooing.

The Candela PicoWay produces an intense, but gentle burst of light that allows selective destruction of the over-abundance of melanin seen in benign pigmented lesions or fragments and removes tattoo pigments without damaging surrounding tissue. The purpose of this procedure is to attempt removal of the tattoo or to make the pattern as unrecognizable as possible by lightening the pigment pattern.

FAQ

Eyebrow tattooing has been a popular practice for many years. More recently, the technique has been altered and referred to as microblading. Whether you have an older style of eyebrow tattoo or have had microblading, you may be dealing with issues such as fading, color changes, or an aesthetic outcome that doesn’t seem quite right. Eyebrow tattoo removal treatment follows the same basic principles as broader tattoo removal treatments but focused on a localized area. We use the latest laser tattoo removal technology to gently, effectively restore the appearance of your natural eyebrows.

Eyebrow laser tattoo removal works the same way that body tattoo removal works. At New Look Skin Center, our experienced team uses the PicoWay laser tattoo removal system by Candela. This system delivers pulses of powerful, controlled laser energy to break apart pigment that has been deposited beneath the skin. The advanced laser technology that is housed within the PicoWay platform is proven to target a broader range of pigments more quickly than other technologies. PicoWay is also suitable for a wider range of skin types. With each PicoWay treatment, the particles of pigment beneath the skin are dislodged a little more. Over time, these fractionated particles get absorbed by the body. As they are, the appearance of the eyebrows returns to normal.

There are several factors that influence the speed at which a tattoo can be removed. These include:

  • Pigment color
  • Pigment density
  • Application technique
  • The depth of pigment location
  • Skin type
  • Tattoo location
  • The patient’s unique immune response to tattoo removal

Laser tattoo removal treatments are usually scheduled one to two months apart. Generally, simple tattoos fade away after two to four laser treatments. Older tattoos and more complex pigmentation may require more treatments to resolve to a satisfactory degree. While we leave room for patients’ personal responses to treatments, the general guideline is that eyebrow tattoo removal can take somewhere between six and 10 treatments for full correction. Our experienced team can observe the difference between traditional tattoo pigments and the pigments used for permanent makeup and will base their treatment estimate on this factor in addition to the others we’ve mentioned.

Laser eyebrow tattoo removal can be performed on an entire eyebrow tattoo or a part of one. Just like your eyebrow tattoo was performed (hopefully!) to your specifications, the way in which we alter or remove the tattoo can be, as well. Laser eyebrow tattoo removal is not all or nothing, it is a process that is tailored to your desired outcome. At your consultation and initial session, your provider will discuss their anticipated outcome through a recommended number of treatments. This can be revisited as needed once we see how your ink responds to the PicoWay laser treatment.

Getting a tattoo anywhere on the body can be a little uncomfortable. Depending on the location of the tattoo, the process can be quite uncomfortable. Fortunately, laser tattoo removal is not as uncomfortable as getting a tattoo. However, it is not painless. As much as we wish we could wipe away pigment from the skin without sensation, it is not yet possible. As laser technologies have advanced, the process has become easier. Pulses of laser light may be faster and more controlled, easing comfort without significant compromise to the duration of treatment or its results.

Laser eyebrow tattoo removal is performed while you and your provider wear protective eyewear. Laser energy is delivered in quick pulses. Each pulse may feel like a snap or momentary sensation of intense warmth. Unlike the tattooing process, laser tattoo removal is felt in very brief moments of discomfort.

If you are interested in laser eyebrow tattoo removal, you need to be adequately prepared in order to maximize your comfort and your results. To be prepared, your provider may make several suggestions. Most commonly, clients are encouraged to:

  • Avoid sun exposure before laser tattoo removal (wear sunscreen daily).
  • Refrain from alcohol use and the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (these thin the blood and increase bleeding and bruising).
  • Hydrate well. Drinking half of your body weight in water can prevent unnecessary tissue dehydration during laser treatments.

Laser tattoo removal of the eyebrows is a relatively quick process. The procedure may take less than five minutes and is generally described as only mildly uncomfortable. After treatment, you might notice a moderate amount of swelling and redness. The development of small blisters is also normal and nothing to be alarmed about. Laser treatments can also temporarily alter the color of the skin. Lighter skin may develop some dark spots or darker skin may develop some light spots. These are expected to resolve over one to two weeks. To help your skin recover well after laser tattoo removal, we suggest following your aftercare instructions very carefully.

For optimal results, it may be necessary to apply antibiotic ointment to the area for three or more days. The treatment area may need to be covered with sterile gauze for a few days. If this is advised, we will inform you of this requirement before your scheduled appointment so you can arrange time off from work or other engagements as needed. After laser treatment for eyebrow tattoos, you should continue to hydrate well and avoid the use of medications and substances that thin the blood, alcohol included.
