Botox® and Dysport®
Botox® and Dysport® target dynamic wrinkles, which form on the skin above a contracting muscle when you make expressions such as squinting, smiling or frowning. These injectables block the signal from crossing the neuromuscular junction to allow the muscle to relax and soften wrinkles above it. The injections are most commonly used on the upper third of the face to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes and frown lines. It takes a few days for Botox® to take full effect. Botox® lasts around four months before additional treatment is needed to maintain results.
Juvederm®
Juvederm® is an injectable that works to treat static wrinkles, which are wrinkles that remain visible on the skin after facial expressions. Juvederm® is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance that binds with water molecules to smooth wrinkles and folds such as the parentheses lines around the nose and mouth. Results last six months to a year.
Radiesse
Radiesse works differently from other injectables by not only filling the wrinkle temporarily, but also stimulating the body to produce new collagen for longer-lasting results. It consists of calcium-based microspheres and gel that target moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Results last for more than a year in many cases.
Kybella®
Kybella® is an injection that targets the fat under the chin. The active ingredient, synthetic deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When it’s injected into the fat beneath the chin, it destroys the fat cells, reducing the fullness in the area.
