What is CoolSculpting?
Despite how amazing this technology is, CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss solution. It’s a non-surgical alternative to liposuction. It is FDA-approved to treat the abdomen, flanks, thighs, bra fat, back fat, upper arms and the banana roll under the buttocks.
The length of a CoolSculpting session will vary depending on how many areas are being treated during one visit. You may need multiple sessions to meet your aesthetic goals. One of the reasons CoolSculpting is so popular is there is little to no downtime, so you can return to work and regular activities after your session is over.
During treatment, a clear gel pad is applied to the area that will be treated to serve as a barrier between the device and your skin. The fat-freezing device is placed in position to apply controlled cooling to the area to target and kill the fat cells only. During the first few minutes, you will feel pressure and intense cold, which soon dissipates. Many patients sit back and relax, read or watch TV during their treatment.
What happens to the fat cells?
The targeted fat cells will crystallize and die. In the weeks after treatment, your body will eliminate these dead cells. What’s amazing about this technology is that results are long-term. Once these treated fat cells are gone, they are gone for good.
Many patients start seeing results as early as three weeks after treatment. The most dramatic results occur after two months. Your body will continue to flush out fat cells for up to six months after treatment.
How long do results last?
Patients don’t have to follow a specific diet or exercise program after treatment. Once patients start seeing the results, many feel more motivated to take better care of themselves. If you do gain weight, you may gain it all over your body, not just in the treated areas.
